- Doubling of Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya railway line (104 km) across 4 districts at ₹2,192 cr, enhancing rail capacity and regional development.
- Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I), inaugurated the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)’s first regional office in Patna, Bihar.

- Climate Crisis – Global heatwaves and flooding highlight rising risks; India’s 2024 was hottest on record.
- Solar Eclipse 2025 – A partial solar eclipse will occur on 21 Sept 2025, visible in parts of Asia, but not in the UAE.
- Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has installed three new continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) in Mehsana, Rajkot, and Surat. Under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), Gujarat also plans to improve air quality in six more cities. Guidelines for managing dust at construction sites were also introduced.
- Chennai has released a City Biodiversity Index to benchmark conservation efforts in the urban environment.
- Indore and Udaipur have been officially recognized as “Wetland Cities” under the Ramsar Convention.
- In Uttar Pradesh, there is a plan to plant 15 lakh (1.5 million) saplings on or around Prime Minister Modi’s birthday (17 Sep) as part of a wider “Seva Parv” initiative. Emphasis on planting native species, including in degraded forest lands and along rivers.
- Doon environmentalist Dr. Anil Joshi was inducted as a distinguished fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) for his decades of work in environmental conservation, water management etc.

- The last solar eclipse of 2025 will occur on the night of 21-22 September, but it will not be visible from India. Regions such as New Zealand, Eastern Australia, Antarctica, and parts of the South Pacific will see it.
- China progressing on Yangtze Underwater Rail Tunnel with TBM diameter 15.4 m, among world’s largest.
- Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail project sets world record: TBM “Shiv” excavated 790 m in 31 days.
- The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor is India’s flagship bullet train project, spanning about 508 km. It connects Mumbai in Maharashtra with Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Part of the route includes a 21 km long underground tunnel stretch between Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Shilphata. This section is particularly difficult because it includes varied geology, deep shafts, and urban constraints.The corridor is being developed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL). Japanese technology (Shinkansen) and funding (JICA) are involved.Within this 21 km, about 7 km runs under the sea — specifically under Thane Creek, making it India’s first undersea tunnel section for a bullet train.
